QL Shutdown

The QL Shutdown is program that lets you manage shutdown local and remote machines unattended and thereby manage the power consumption in the office.

Review: QL Shutdown is a Power management solution for an organization. It can handle any size of the organizations in terms of machines used. You are able to set up the power state of the machines within an organization on a schedule. There is no need to install any client software on individual machines. With this tool the administrators would be able to get any machine to wake up and receive software patches, get software installed or any other administrative tasks. The machine then can go back to sleep. The range of such administrative actions include wakeup, shutdown, restart, hibernate, standby, log-off, lock, popup message, ping etc. Other features available are create a new task wizard, run actions by schedule, client-less remote access, write events in system log file, scan the network with IP range, active directory search etc. The software works with Windows 2000/XP/Vista and Windows Server 2000-2008. Wake Up is possible on computers with Wake-on-LAN support.

The interface is really very simple. It has two effective tabs, the third tab has information about the package. The first tab is for setting the local machines and the second one is about remote machines. Setting process is straightforward and does not need any significant learning time. For the Schedule and the wake up radio buttons, there’s a range of information available. Schedule, next run time, last run time, user and result are stats available that will help fine tune the actions.
